Flora and fauna observation

Wildlife viewing in Catamarca is an experience that allows you to discover biodiversity amidst stunning landscapes. From the summit of Cuesta El Portezuelo, you can observe the majestic flight of condors, soaring through the sky on the mountain air currents.

The high Andean lagoons are home to pink flamingos and other birds of the puna, such as coots and puna ducks, which contrast beautifully with the water's surface and the surrounding hills. Vicuñas roam freely across the vast high-altitude plains, offering a unique glimpse of wildlife in its natural habitat. The vegetation also surprises visitors with the flowering of the lapacho tree, whose pink, white, and yellow blossoms cover mountains and streets between July and October. The flowering of the cardón cactus, between October and February, creates a spectacular natural display in the region's arid landscapes.
