Santa María offers a unique tourism experience that invites visitors to immerse themselves in the cultivation of capia corn and bell peppers, engaging all five senses from their origin to their final presentation in a delicious menu featuring a recipe by Santa María artist Margarita Palacios.
The experience begins with a visit to Hugo Moreno's farm in El Cerrito (15 minutes from downtown Santa María), where visitors will enjoy the natural surroundings where the crops grow and become involved in the production process of bell peppers and capia corn, from planting to harvest, depending on the season.
During the visit to Molino Herrero, located in the town center, visitors will experience the texture and aroma of bell peppers and capia flour in a sensory journey through a century of history, accompanied by the sounds of the machinery. At the San Rafael Spice Mill, in addition to seeing how the raw materials are packaged, ground (using more advanced machinery), and stored, visitors will discover the flavor of paprika with a dessert tasting. The recipe was created and prepared by local chefs, who will share it with those who are inspired to make it at home.
The tour concludes at the Off Road Moto Bar, where visitors will savor the flavors of the crops they learned about during the visit on the "Andean Cosmovision" menu, which includes a recipe featuring capia corn by the artist Margarita Palacios.
The experience requires prior reservation. You can contact @turismosantamariayokavil, via WhatsApp at 3838-410165, or at the municipality's tourist information offices.
