Tinogasta, land of sensations

“Tinogasta Land of Sensations” invites tourists to journey through Tinogasta using their five senses and discover, through aromas, flavors, and textures, the ancestral knowledge that remains more alive than ever in the Tinogasta region.

The experience begins with a visit to the La India del Portezuelo viewpoint in the Abaucán Valley region, between the towns of Santa Rosa and El Puesto. There, visitors can see the petrified image of a woman with a child in her arms, the origin of a legend that represents a reclaiming of identity and indigenous culture in the face of the imposition of a new order.

Afterward, following a short walk, visitors will travel with the sounds of nature and discover the unmistakable aroma of native herbs such as jarilla, pichana, and tusca in a landscape where the mountains embrace the vast Abaucán River, which, according to Samuel Lafone Quevedo, means “Warrior Lord of the Heights” in the Kakana language.

The experience, which focuses on the sense of smell, is complemented by a visit to the Stall Gallery, where Juan López, entrepreneur of “Fuerza Natural,” will reveal the properties of native plants, their therapeutic benefits, and explain the process for making oils and ointments.

The tourism offering continues in the “Madre Tierra” workshop, where artisan Ramona Quispe will share the process of creating ceramic pieces using the different types of clay from the region, which vary in color and texture. Each visitor will have the opportunity to mold their own ceramic piece to take home.

She will also share valuable ancestral knowledge about the techniques for creating the pieces and the healing properties of clay, renowned for its ability to relieve joint pain and for its numerous benefits for the skin as a natural cleanser.

The experience concludes at Finca La Sala, where Ana Saris will invite visitors to explore and learn about the history of the adobe house, built in 1850. Then, they will enhance their sense of taste by discovering the flavor of wine from Tinogasta's vineyards with a toast featuring "Alma de Adobe" wine, made with grapes from the estate, and a traditional dish called "Costillas al Malbec" (Ribs with Malbec), a dish that promises to be a lasting delight.

During the tour, which can be taken in the morning or afternoon, a guide will share information about the various attractions included in this offering, which are integral to Tinogasta's identity. Reservations are required and can be made by contacting @turismo.tinogasta via WhatsApp at +54 3837 430666 or at the municipal tourist information offices. The experience takes approximately two and a half hours.
