CATA – Center for Art and Applied Technology

Located in the heart of San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca, CATA – Center for Art and Applied Technology – transforms the historic Government House into a cultural and tourist space where visitors can experience Catamarca's identity in a unique and interactive way.

The tour offers sensory and immersive experiences that combine art, culture, archaeology, mythology, architecture, identity, and local production.

The ground floor is designed as a welcoming space and meeting point, while the upper floor features a thematic tour that organizes the content into different rooms.

The "Catamarca, City of Authors" rooms showcase the works designed by Luis Caravati that gave the city its distinctive character and personality. On the other side, "360 Experience" is an immersive space that, through oculi and rotating platforms, allows visitors to delve into the vastness of Catamarca's landscapes. The museum also features workshops and educational experiences, a crafts room temporarily exhibiting a collection of Northwest Argentine handicrafts, the CATA Shop serving as a sales point for the Provincial Artisan Market, the Tourist Information Office, an area designed specifically for early childhood, a food court, and the Palm Tree Courtyard, offering a privileged view of the Cathedral.

Upstairs, you'll find the Protocol Room, which evokes the former Government House and preserves its historical character, and an Art Room showcasing outstanding works from the collection of the Laureano Brizuela Provincial Museum of Fine Arts. From there, an experiential journey begins, unfolding Catamarca's identity in various dimensions: yarns and textiles as cultural symbols; myths and legends, featuring iconic figures of the province; an archaeology room highlighting ancestral heritage; and spaces dedicated to mining, production, and tourism.

CATA is not a traditional museum: it's a space to experience Catamarca in its many dimensions.

Admission is free, and it's open Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM and from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and Saturday and Sunday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Group visits must be arranged in advance via WhatsApp at +54 383 4220467.
