Las Pirquitas Dam
A half-hour drive from the city lies the Las Pirquitas Dam, the largest in the province, where you can enjoy various water sports such as rowing, kayaking, jet skiing, and boating. It's also suitable for fishing for species like trout and silverside.
Seven kilometers long and with an average depth of nearly 700 meters, its main characteristic lies in the ancestral technique used for its construction. This dam was built using the pirca system, that is, by stacking and compacting stones without mortar; hence its name, Pirquitas (Little Stones).
