Dunes
The Fiambalá Desert is a must-see. The Magic Dune of Saujil (with a height of 90 meters and a 45º slope) and the Tatón Dunes, which hosted several editions of the Dakar Rally, are ideal for sandboarding.
Currently, there are tours that take visitors to the area, and you can also get there by car. To get to the Tatón Dunes from Fiambalá, take Provincial Route 34 and pass through the towns of Saujil and Medanitos, then travel approximately 30 km to reach Tatón.
The Tatón Dune is the tallest in South America, reaching 1,230 meters. Its base is at 1,615 meters above sea level, and its summit at 2,845 meters. The entire geological formation is impressive; so much so that its dunes were described by geologist Alfred Stelzner as "sand glaciers."
Useful information:
Sandboards can be rented in shops near the main square of the town.
